Starting an Educational Video Production
Conceptual development for instructional video production usually starts with the joint effort of a client and a producer. Putting together a great high-level team you’re excited to chat with and a team to go into battle with are both important.

Although, there are so many methods, as I can get inspiration from our archive of hundreds of projects. Still, it is also inspiring to look at the work of other producers and see what can apply to a project.
The Challenges in Engaging Viewers
Now, when it comes to the challenges of viewer engagement, there are modalities that helps retain information. The first is simply the footage captured which has both a visual and audio component. Second, more importantly, is about how humans communicate. From there, I like to layer on a set of titles and complement the spot with text, image or b-roll visuals.
- The primary information delivery can come from talent or interviews discussing the topic. It can also come from voice-over or voice performance. Finally, it can also come strictly from the visuals complemented by the soundscape.
A Remedy, Tips to Overcome the Challenge
One of the smartest things you can do for your production is use mixed media such as images or footage from different cameras. Additionally, multiple sources of talent OR interviews, and even random acquired footage from other sources or producers. This includes;
- Drone footage
- GoPro footage
- Shoulder rig
- Or even a glide cam footage for instructional video production.
In addition, mixing a variety of medias together helps keep things fresh and creative. This is important especially when it comes to selecting the most significant or effective visuals for that educational video production.
