Okay, so 2016 isn’t officially over yet…
We’ve still got a couple of weeks left, but it has nonetheless been a whirlwind year. We lost David Bowie, The Chicago Cubs won a world series after 108 years, Brexit happened, stock markets skyrocketed, and Donald Trump is now the Commander in Chief of the most powerful nation on Earth.
But the world is still spinning in roughly the same orbit as last year, and if you’re like us at Red+Ripley, you’re already thinking of all the new things 2017 will bring.
So without further ado, here are 3 BIG questions Red+Ripley will be trying to answer next year – and maybe you’ll be asking them too!
Have you built a community?
The great irony in having an Internet that connects everyone from everywhere in the world is that it feels like we’re actually more divided and segregated than ever before.
If it’s not some political argument by somebody on your Facebook feed, it’s the fact that you’ve probably bumped into somebody this year who hasn’t been able to draw their face away from their phone while walking.
As a business, we at Red+Ripley have always strived to create a sense of community with our clients and our audience. Half of our videos are return clients and if you have your own business you’re no stranger to that.
In 2017, we hope to build on that – reach out to new and old clients and friends, post relevant social media content, and cherish past accomplishments with our base.
How can you excite yourself?
There’s some validity to the statement “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” – but chances are you aren’t running a perfect machine and even if you think you are, why should you settle for the status quo?
If there’s anyone who knows about taking that next leap of faith, it’s Elon Musk.
(The full video is 52 minutes, but we highly recommend giving it a watch)
Innovation is why you created your own business – you felt a need create something new, or improve an old concept. Or you just wanted to do it better. So why settle for that once, or twice, or even a dozen times?
Pay attention to your surroundings. Stay informed, read the news, and be observant – where there is a problem, there is almost always a solution – but only those who look will be able to find it!
And when you do, take the risk! You can’t pay rent with just a good idea – take the plunge, pitch it, get it funded, and know and reach the people who you can truly impact in the best way.
And who knows, you might just find a new passion in the process.
What do you want?
It’s a question that you usually can’t answer immediately, and that’s okay. We’ve heard it a lot – in fact we do videos about this very question all the time:
It’s really as simple as – what are you putting all your effort and hard work towards? And you may have a vague idea about this – to be famous, to be financially successful, and/or to be a philanthropist.
But it’ll help you a lot more if you take those ideas and write them down. Make a vision board.
Just the simple act of writing down your end-game will give you so much more purpose to everything you do, from getting up in the morning to closing your day on a high note.
Lastly, don’t rush it – these things can change too.
George Miller of “Mad Max” fame was set on becoming a physician up to the age of 30, and then he started dabbling in making short experimental films.
He’s now one of the most critically acclaimed auteur Directors in Hollywood.
